A Festive Farewell to an Exciting First Term at the Spanish Club
It’s that time of the year again—holidays are just around the corner! As we prepare to take a well-deserved break from our routines, I’d like to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve had during the first term at the Spanish Club.
First term
This term has been full of new adventures and learning experiences. We kicked off with lots of energy, reconnecting with all the amazing progress we made over the summer. Some of our students visited Spain during the holidays, and it was truly inspiring to hear them share stories of how they used their Spanish in real-life situations. For others, the Spanish Club marked their very first steps into learning a new language.
As always, the first day of class was filled with excitement and nerves—new beginnings can be emotional! That’s why we place so much emphasis on creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone. Learning a new language can feel like stepping into the unknown, but it’s our openness and curiosity that determine how much we grow.
We started the term with self-introductions in Spanish: ¿Cómo te llamas? Our trusty helpers, Pepito Rayas and Ratita Dinamita, were wonderful in demonstrating how to introduce yourself, and the children loved learning alongside them. We also read *My First Spanish Book*, which sparked confidence and curiosity from day one.
Of course, after a full day at school, some children come to class feeling tired, and we recognise the importance of balance. This term, we introduced mindfulness moments with relaxing videos and songs, like Los Colores. ttps://youtu.be/O-bMhmu1BBM. These moments of calm became a favorite for many of our learners.
As we approached the end of term, we couldn’t miss out on the holiday spirit! We explored Christmas songs in Spanish, including the ever-popular Feliz Navidad. The children enjoyed learning how to write Feliz Navidad and even discovered a new festive song that became a hit for some.

Looking ahead, next term will bring even more exciting opportunities. We’ll explore dances from different Spanish-speaking countries—an energetic way to immerse ourselves in the culture while having fun. I can’t wait to see how the children embrace this new activity!

As we wrap up the year, I want to thank all the families who have been part of the Spanish Club. Your enthusiasm and support make everything possible. To make Spanish learning even more accessible, I’ll continue sharing songs and stories on YouTube, along with hands-on crafts and downloadable activities on the website. These resources are perfect for practicing at home and extending the joy of learning beyond the classroom.
Wishing you all a Feliz Navidad and a wonderful New Year filled with joy and learning! I’m excited to see you back in class next term for more adventures in Spanish.
¡Hasta pronto!
