Water Goddess: following the hidden rivers

This painting was born from an exploration of the water triangle in the birth chart: Pisces, Scorpio and Cancer, and the way these waters speak to each other inside us.

I began thinking about how water moves through a landscape. Water is born in the mountains, travels through the land, enters rivers, reaches the sea, and continues in secret currents beneath the surface. There are also underground springs, deep fountains, and hidden waters that heal, nourish, and remember.

The painting began as an invocation to the water goddesses, the nymphs, and the beings who live in these different realms of water. As I painted, creatures started to appear. I love this part of the process: looking at the canvas and feeling the conversation that begins to emerge. The painting slowly takes form, but it also takes you through a journey. Something changes in the image, and something changes in you.

One of the first images that came was the spring of Pegasus. In the myth, Pegasus creates a fountain by striking the Earth with his hoof. I imagined the nymphs waiting for him, happy to see him return, especially Urania, full of love and wonder. From there, the painting started to move into deeper waters: the mysterious waters beneath the sea, where ancient creatures and energies live.

In that deepness there is a different kind of calm. The noise, chaos, and harm of the surface cannot reach so far down. It is there that Salacia appeared, goddess, the hidden sea, the deep feminine waters.

And then, from the caves and the unseen places, the healing waters began to flow again, coming down through fountains, springs, and underground channels.

This painting is a journey through all these waters: the celestial spring, the river of emotion, the healing fountain, the underworld sea of inconditional love where we all end, and the deep quiet place where something ancient still can be hear, can you listen?
